THE ROUTE

Everest Base Camp Trek route overview

The Everest Base Camp Trek is a 14-day high-altitude teahouse trek in Nepal that reaches 5,545 m. Kailasa grades it Moderate to Difficult. The best time to go is March – May & September – November. The published price with Kailasa Treks is ₹ 83,500 + 5% GST.

The Everest Base Camp trek follows the Dudh Koshi valley into the heart of the Khumbu, the home of the Sherpa people and the highest mountains on Earth. Over two weeks the trail climbs steadily from the airstrip at Lukla to Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and the Kala Patthar viewpoint (5,545 m).

The route passes through Namche Bazaar, the main trading village of the Khumbu, and the monastery at Tengboche, with views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and Everest itself. Rest days at Namche and Dingboche are built in so that your body has time to adjust to the altitude.

This is a teahouse trek: you sleep in mountain lodges and walk with a light day pack while porters carry your luggage. It is long and cold at the top, so previous multi-day trekking experience and good fitness make a real difference.
