Mt. Satopanth Peak expedition photograph from Kailasa Treks
“Summiting Satopanth with Kailasa Treks was the most profound mountain experience of my life. Sachin Lama and his team do not treat you like a client on a conveyor belt—they taught us fixed-rope transitions, ice-axe self-arrests, and assessed our hydration every morning. The knife-edge ridge was intimidating, but their fixed lines and reassuring calm made all the difference.”

Kang Yatse II Peak Trek expedition photograph from Kailasa Treks
“Kang Yatse II was my first 6,000m climb. What stood out was Kailasa’s honesty during our pre-trip planning call. They were upfront about the physical conditioning needed and didn’t sell false promises. The camp food in Markha Valley was surprisingly nutritious, and the summit push at 2 AM was executed with military precision.”

Mt. Nun Peak expedition photograph from Kailasa Treks
“As an emergency physician, safety protocols and medical preparedness are my non-negotiables in the high mountains. Kailasa’s oxygen reserves, pulse oximetry routines, and conservative acclimatisation schedule on Mt. Nun were world-class. When fierce wind hit Camp 3, Sachin made the mature call to wait for the weather window instead of rushing.”

BEFORE YOU GO

Good questions.
Better preparation.

Route choice, costs, equipment and what happens when plans change.

Which expedition is suitable for beginners?

Requirements vary by route. Friendship Peak can be a progression for experienced high-altitude trekkers, but it is still a demanding climb. Share your experience with the team before choosing a summit.

How fit do I need to be?

Expect sustained days on mountain terrain and changing conditions. The right preparation depends on the route, altitude and your previous experience. Ask for the current itinerary and participation requirements.

What is included in the expedition cost?

Inclusions vary by trip. Review the individual itinerary and request a written quote covering taxes, transport, permits, equipment, insurance and any reserve-day charges.

How do you manage acclimatisation and safety?

Published itineraries include rest or acclimatisation days. Ask the team for your departure’s ascent plan, leader assignment, emergency communication and evacuation arrangements before booking.

What equipment do I need?

The required personal and technical kit differs by route. Ask for a route-specific equipment list and confirm what Kailasa provides before buying or renting gear.

What happens if weather affects the itinerary?

Mountain conditions can change the plan. Some published itineraries include reserve days; their use and any extra charges vary by trip. Confirm the current terms and decision process with the team.
